Code of Conduct
Purpose
Red Deer Brewers is a community of individuals passionate about brewing beer, cider, mead, and other fermented beverages. This Code of Conduct is intended to ensure a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment for all members, guests, and participants in club activities.
Respect for All Members
Treat everyone with respect, regardless of their background, brewing experience, gender, race, ethnicity, age, or personal identity.
Discrimination, harassment, or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. This includes offensive language, inappropriate physical contact, or unwelcome advances (Dave).
Promote Learning and Collaboration
Foster a supportive environment where members feel comfortable sharing their brewing knowledge, asking questions, and learning from one another.
Constructive feedback is encouraged, but be mindful of how it is given. Always provide feedback with the intention to help others grow as brewers.
Responsible Alcohol Consumption
Members should enjoy their beverages responsibly during club meetings, events, and social gatherings.
Do not pressure others to drink or over-consume alcohol. Respect anyone's decision to abstain from alcohol at any time.
Drunk or disorderly conduct will not be tolerated.
Safety First
Prioritize safety in all brewing activities. Adhere to proper sanitation, handling, and brewing protocols to ensure the safety of all members.
Respect the club's brewing equipment and facilities. Clean up after yourself, and report any damage or malfunctioning equipment.
Inclusivity and Welcoming Attitude
Welcome new members and guests into the club. Be friendly, approachable, and offer help to anyone interested in learning about homebrewing.
Avoid cliques or exclusionary behavior. Make sure everyone feels included in conversations and activities.
Contribution and Engagement
Actively participate in club meetings, brew days, and events. The club thrives when all members contribute to its success.
Help out where needed, whether it's organizing an event, cleaning up, or offering expertise on a brewing project.
Respect for Property
Handle club property and equipment with care. If you borrow equipment or use club resources, return them in good condition.
Respect the venues where the club meets, whether it's a member's home, a brewing facility, or a public space.
Conflict Resolution
If conflicts arise, address them calmly and respectfully. Seek mediation from club leadership if necessary.
Personal disputes should be handled privately and should not interfere with club activities or the enjoyment of other members.
Adherence to Laws and Regulations
Comply with all local, provincial, and federal laws regarding alcohol production and consumption.
The club must not engage in or condone any illegal activity related to brewing or alcohol.
Consequences for Violations
Violations of this Code of Conduct will result in appropriate action, which may include verbal warnings, suspension from club activities, or termination of membership.
Club leadership reserves the right to determine the necessary response based on the severity of the violation.
By following this Code of Conduct, we can ensure that our Homebrew Club remains a fun, educational, and respectful environment for everyone.
